Hiking in Dardago & Polcenigo

Yesterday was a beautiful day, so after Dan got off work we decided to go check out what’s above the town of Dardago.  I saw a blog of someone who went up here and they had amazing pictures of mossy rocks with water flowing over them so we set out to find it.  It didn’t say on their blog where in Dardago, just that it was above Dardago.  We couldn’t find it. This is what we saw on the hike trying to find it.

We will have to go back up here when there is water running through it.

This is when we heard water flowing and saw this gate and sign. Still have to look it up to see what it means

We went back down to our car and went a little further down the mountain, closer to Dardago where this photo was taken.

After Dardago we headed into Polcenigo to see what was going on there.  Not too much.  We walked around, took some pictures and got some Gelato.

We went to dinner with Mark, Monica and their daughter Abbie to the Pizza place in Dardago.  We’ve been there a few times and it’s really good.  It’s up in the middle of nowhere in Dardgo though, unless you go with someone, I don’t think you would know it was there.  We were introduced to this place our first week in Italy, we had a going away dinner for Emil, the guy Dan replaced, and a welcome dinner for us all in one.

We had a great day out exploring, my dog, Shae, had fun too, we took her with us. I hope your Saturday was great as well!

  2. It was neat coming across this blog- My family was stationed at Aviano AFB from 1998-2006 and we live right on the square of Dardago, in the big peach colored house across the street from Il Artunga pizzeria. I remember hiking up to San Tome and going past that little church back in the woods as well. Enjoy your stay in Aviano!
