Dubrovnik, Croatia

Dubrovnik was amazing.  We had to pass through Bosnia to get there which was neat, once again the drive was pretty easy and beautiful!

The old town is surrounded by walls, which you can walk on and walk all the way around the city.  Croatia declared independence in 1991, which led to an attack on Dubrovnik that lasted for seven months, but for the next 3 years continued to had random attacks.  It was neat walking through the town and seeing bullet holes and scrapes in buildings.  Looking at the town, the buildings with the brighter red roofs are the ones that had to be replaced.

My dog is such a good little traveler

We took a cable car to the top of the mountain for this beautiful view looking over Dubrovnik.  If you look close, you can see the walls that surround the city, we walked the walls the second day we were there, took about 1.5-2 hours to walk around and sightsee.

This is a picture of the city wall, so we are on a cliff outside the wall at a bar with the water right below to watch the sunset

Of you look closely in the picture below, follow the sun down the picture about an inch…see the white thing on the rock?  That’s a cat curled up sleeping. Lucky little thing!

Day two is when we walked the walls around the town, took a glass bottom boat tour around the area and explored the rest of the city.

In this pic you can see the brighter red roof at the bottom of the picture, that is one that had to be replaced because it got blasted.

We LOVED this area.  Once again, we got lucky because it wasn’t very busy. This is a big port town and there were only a few cruise ships in port, I can’t imagine walking the walls in the summer with all the tourists.  The weather was perfect too at 75 degrees.  Awesome city.
