Once again, it's been a while since I have blogged, I am not very good at this. When Dan got back from his deployment, we've been busy with traveling ever since. I posted a few blogs on that, but still need to post on Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia, Vienna, Austria and Budapest, Hungary. After those trips Dan went back to work and I went to Ohio to visit my family as my Grandmother wasn't doing well. I got to spend Thanksgiving there, it was great to see everyone.
We also found out in November what our next duty assignment would be, which is Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. We were pretty excited about that, as it's the best base in NM to be stationed at and Dan has been there a few times for TDY's and enjoyed it. I am looking forward to it because I've never been to that part of the country. It will be sad to leave Italy, but such is life.
On the weekends Dan and I went to London, Barcelona and Munich, I went to Slovenia for a spa weekend with my friend, Monica.
Just a few weeks ago my best friend (that I've known since we were about 11 years old) and her husband came out for a visit. They wanted to be here to celebrate their wedding anniversary and we had a wonderful time with them. The day they got here we went to what I call Prosecco Land, it's a beautiful are just an hour away from us. The day after they got in, we flew to Paris, spent 3 nights there, came back here and went to Venice the next day. Then we headed to Rome and stayed there 3 nights. It was a good trip and was great to spend time with them like that, as we have done that in many, many years.
On Monday and Tuesday all of our stuff was packed up and taken away to be shipped back to the states. Our apartment is pretty empty, TMO brought us a "couch" and a bed that I can picture Fred Flintstone sleeping on..it's rock hard. We move out of here on March 25th and move onto base in TLF and then fly out on April 4th, my birthday! We are going to go to Florida and visit family there for a few weeks, then will fly out and head to Albuquerque on April 17th.
It's hard to believe we have lived in Italy the last 3 years and that we are leaving. I will be happy to be back in the states, the land of convenience, but will miss Italy and traveling very much. Excited for the next chapter in our lives though!
I will try and start getting caught up on all these blogs!
Hello! I just stumbled across your blog and am so glad that I did! I am currently an Air Force wife-to-be and am reading up on everything I can about the lifestyle! I only hope that one day we are fortunate enough to be stationed overseas! Consider me your newest follower! :)
