We got to Rome on a Sunday afternoon, Dan and Mike went to mass at St. Peter’s Basilica while the rest of us hung out, relaxed a bit and went to the little grocery store down the street. When we first got there it was raining pretty hard, so we decided to hang out for a bit, worked out well. When Dan and Mike got back from mass it was no longer raining, so we went for a walk to see Rome at night. We saw parts of the Forum lit up along with the Colosseum.
The next day we got an early start and headed to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, The Pantheon and Navona Square.

Really? I just saw this in the pictures my Mom took. Too Funny.
LOL, Another picture my Mom took.
After wandering around all morning, we stopped for lunch, relaxed a bit and headed out to the Roman Forum and Colosseum.

Colosseum
At the end of the day, we were pooped. It was hot, but once again we got very lucky with lines. We walked right up to the clerk to buy our tickets at the Forum, then of course, since we already had the ticket, we didn’t have to wait in line at the colosseum.
The next day we got up early and took my family to the Vatican Museum. Dan and I decided not to go through it again, we both just went through it recently. So, we took them there, then hopped back on the metro to the Pyramid station, then got off and got on a train to go to Ostia Antica. It’s a part of Rome that has many ruins, Dan and I haven’t seen that before, so thought it would be neat to check it out.
Mosaics
On the way back, we decided to go outside the metro station to see the Pyramid that was there, so here it is. Not sure why it’s there, but pretty neat.
We met back up with the family in St. Peter’s Square, took them in the Basilica, then headed back to the apartment where we were staying. Rested up a bit then went out for dinner. We went here when Dan’s Mom was here, and I have to say…I liked it better before. The food wasn’t as good this time, but Dan and Mike enjoyed their food!
The next day we took a day trip to Pompeii, which I would highly recommend if you get the chance!!!!
